Exposing Natural Language Models

How do we know if a text is produced by human or artificial intelligence? Could new technology be used by – for example – students to generate essays with minimum effort? Questions like these were discussed at a hybrid seminar organized by DHV-hub on October 28, 2021. The title of the seminar was “Exposing Natural Language Models – A Threat to Higher Education?” Speakers Jussi Karlgren, associate professor of language technology at the University of Helsinki and a principal research scientist at Spotify, and Magnus Sahlgren, computational linguist at RISE and AI Sweden, led the discussion. Some 20 researchers participated in the seminar.
